Plot
In the year 1980, humanity finds itself the primary target of a predatory alien race. These extraterrestrial invaders kidnap and annihilate humans and animals alike, harvesting their bodies for ominous purposes. In response to this escalating alien threat, the Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization (S.H.A.D.O.) is established. Operating from the clandestine depths beneath the bustling Harlington-Straker film studio in London, this covert military organization becomes Earth's first line of defense.
Commanded by the resolute General James Henderson and the strategic Commander Ed Straker, S.H.A.D.O. assembles an elite team of skilled men and women. They are armed with cutting-edge technology and unwavering determination to combat the relentless onslaught of hostile UFOs. Their defensive network extends beyond Earth's atmosphere, featuring an early-warning satellite called S.I.D. that detects incoming UFOs and a moon base equipped with Interceptors.
However, the moon base, initially a pivotal outpost in Earth's defense, undergoes a drastic transformation. After an aborted attempt to reboot the UFO series to incorporate advancements seen in films like Star Wars and Star Trek, the moon base, rebranded as 'Moonbase Alpha', takes center stage. The explosive disposal of nuclear waste propels the Moon out of Earth's orbit, hurtling it across the galaxy. It becomes the new home of Commander John Koenig (Martin Landau), Alpha's Dr. Helena Russell (the ever-stunning Barbara Bain), Prof. Victor Bergman (Barry Morse), and their team, who must adapt to their unimaginable circumstances.
