In the heart of Chicago's dazzling diamond district, Cassidy Harper (Virginia Kull) is a struggling actress, her dreams of stardom seemingly slipping through her fingers like the sands of time. She's caught in a life of auditions and rejection, her only solace found on the couch of her mother (Marilu Henner), a beacon in the sea of her uncertainty. The glitz and glamour of Hollywood beckon to her, but the distance feels insurmountable, both metaphorically and financially. In a bid to bridge this gap, Cassidy plunges into the world of diamonds, working as a runner for her mother's boyfriend (Ed Begley, Jr.), an established importer who dwells in the sparkling labyrinth of the city's gem trade. However, the rewards of this job trickle in too slowly, threatening to drown her dreams in the torrent of reality. Desperation fuels ingenuity, and Cassidy, in a daring bid for her dreams, hatches a dangerous plot with the owner's son (Ashton Holmes). A staged robbery, a trove of diamonds, and a scapegoat in the form of her tempestuous ex-boyfriend (Zach McGowan) form the crux of their audacious plan. However, as the scheme spirals into a whirlwind of unpredictability, Cassidy discovers that old flames still burn, adding another layer of complication to her already precarious position.
