Plot

In the heart of Paris, Joey Wellman, a gruff American cartoonist with a sharp wit, reluctantly agrees to attend an exhibition. His motivation is not the art, but a chance to reconnect with his estranged daughter Elsie, who is studying in the city of love. Accompanied by his girlfriend Lena, Joey soon finds himself overwhelmed by the French culture, longing for the familiar comfort of home. Meanwhile, Elsie, engrossed in her quest to have her thesis on Flaubert reviewed by the esteemed Professor Christian Gauthier, delays a reunion with her father. Unbeknownst to her, Gauthier is a fervent admirer of American culture, and in a twist of fate, extends an invitation to Joey and a few other Americans to a weekend soirée at his mother's estate. As the night of the masquerade party unfolds, Elsie finally makes her appearance, only to discover her father beginning to embrace the very culture he initially resisted. "I Want to Go Home" weaves a tale of cultural clashes, familial bonds, and the unforeseen bridges that bring them together.
