Plot

Caught in the relentless whirlwind of Manhattan's unforgiving streets, Marcus, on the cusp of his 15th birthday, grapples with a life carved out of heartache. His father's voice is a mere echo in the wind, and his mother is held captive behind prison bars for aiding the undocumented. The only family he knows is his resilient grandmother and his tight-knit band of friends who've turned a basement into a fortress of camaraderie. Their daily dance with danger involves shoplifting, reselling stolen goods, and the looming temptation of drug peddling. Marcus, however, yearns for an escape, a breath of fresh air that isn't laced with the smog of city life. His heart pulls him towards the distant horizon of New Mexico, where family ties still flicker. In the midst of this chaos, he stumbles upon Melena, a 14-year-old with dreams as expansive as the Alaskan wilderness she yearns to explore. But her dreams are caged by an overbearing and irate father who guards her like a fortress. As Marcus' friends beckon him deeper into the world of burglary and car theft, he finds himself torn between the seductive thrill of urban survival and the promise of liberation beyond the city limits. Can he navigate these turbulent waters and find his breath of open air, or will the hurricane streets claim him as their own?
