Humboldt County (2008)

Exhausted and disillusioned, Peter finds himself on the brink of a breakdown. As he grapples with the pressures of medical school at UCLA and struggles with a course taught by his father on bedside manners, he hasn't slept in days. His life takes a turn when he spends a night with the enigmatic Bogart, a woman he barely knows, and wakes up in the idyllic Arcata, home to Bogart's unconventional foster family. Nestled amidst the woods, the family, including Max, her daughter, mother, and stepfather, cultivate marijuana, not just for their pleasure, but also for Max's covert big score operation. However, Bogart detests the pot farming life, constantly under the scanner of federal agents. Unable to bear it, she suddenly disappears, leaving Peter stranded and reliant on Max for transportation. As hours bleed into days, Peter finds himself postponing his departure, immersed in a world far removed from his own. As he lingers, he is forced to confront the inevitable clash with his father. The question remains, can this unexpected detour offer Peter the chance for a life-altering rebirth?
