Plot

Hollywood star Brooks Mason yearns for a peaceful retreat from the spotlight, hoping to escape the constant clamor of his devoted fans. His chance for a vacation comes when he crosses paths with George Smith, a Hawaiian plantation owner who is amusingly mistaken for Mason by his relentless admirers. Seeing an opportunity for a break, the pair indulges in a playful identity swap for what they believe will be a carefree few weeks. However, their plan unravels when Smith, impersonating Mason, is swept up in a whirlwind fan tour in the bustling city of New York. Meanwhile, Mason, posing as Smith, finds himself drawn to the enchanting dancer Dorothy March, who is coincidentally bound for Hawaii. Complications arise as Smith's engagement to the affluent Cecilia Grayson is threatened by the identity mix-up, leading her influential father to believe he has been cheated. Amidst the chaos, Mason struggles to reconnect with Smith, hindered by the strict orders of his unyielding agent. This delightful comedy of errors explores the unexpected consequences of seeking an escape from one's own life, all set against the vibrant backdrop of 1930s Hollywood and the tropical tranquility of Hawaii.
