Unshackled from the iron grip of prison, the infamous bank robber, Roy 'Mad Dog' Earle, finds himself entwined in a world of crime once again. Secured a pardon by an old associate, he is plotted into orchestrating a daring hotel heist alongside an unlikely duo, Red and Babe. Yet, their crew is not complete without the unexpected addition of Marie, a former dance-hall girl with a past as murky as theirs. As they traverse towards California, their lives intersect with a destitute family traveling with their radiant granddaughter, Velma.
