Hero Hindustani (1998)

In the bustling heart of London lives the bereaved Purshotam Agarwal, a widower who, following the untimely demise of his son and Anglo daughter-in-law, singlehandedly breathes life into his granddaughter Namrata's world. As she blossoms into a woman, Purshotam, deeply rooted in tradition, feels the pressing need to ensure her future by arranging a marriage with the prosperous son of Tikamgarh-based Ranveer. Bow to his wishes, Namrata embarks on a journey to India, a land cloaked in mystery and steeped in traditions entirely foreign to her Western upbringing. Amidst the vivid colours and vibrant culture of a nation far removed from her own, she not only defies her grandfather's expectations but also stirs the pot by introducing a wealthy suitor, Romi. She presents him as her intended, much to Purshotam's dismay, who is blissfully unaware of the truth that Romi's identity is a mere façade. Unbeknownst to Purshotam, Namrata has enlisted Romi as a guide, a local source of knowledge posing as her fiancé to navigate unfamiliar territories. As their ruse unravels, the lines between pretense and reality blur, and amidst the chaos and charm of India, Namrata finds herself drawn to the man she initially saw as nothing more than a guide. The plot thickens as Romi's true identity threatens to surface and Namrata's feelings deepen, leaving her future and her heart hanging in the balance.
