Henry VI Part 2 (1983)

Thrusted prematurely into kingship following the untimely death of his father and the forfeiture of French territories, the naive Henry VI ascends to the throne under the protective wing of the Duke of Gloucester. Unbeknownst to him, the seeds of discord have already been sown deep within the kingdom, with the ambitious Plantagenet of York and the cunning Somerset of Lancaster covertly staking their claims for the throne. This simmering rivalry sets the stage for the bloody Wars of the Roses. In his innocence, Henry attempts to unite these rival factions through the crucible of the Hundred Years War, even capturing the legendary Joan of Arc. To further fortify his reign, he weds Margaret of Anjou, a union intended to consolidate England and France. However, her absence of a dowry stirs resentment within the court. Margaret, finding Henry's devout demeanor tiresome, embarks on a scandalous affair with Somerset. She also becomes a thorn in the side of Gloucester's wife Eleanor. As tensions reach a boiling point, Gloucester is ensnared in allegations of treason, with Eleanor as the supposed catalyst. The feeble Henry, unable to steer the tide, watches helplessly as his kingdom spirals into civil war, his reign crumbling under the weight of betrayal, ambition, and lust.
