Plot

In the twilight of 1865, the desolate expanse of Nevada serves as a battlefield for a troop of Confederate soldiers, spearheaded by the astute Major Matt Stewart. Hungry for victory, they ambush a Union cavalry wagon teeming with gold. In the aftermath of their assault, they're haunted by the revelation that the war they’ve been fighting ended a month prior. Faced with a moral quandary, they choose to keep the spoils of a war that's no longer theirs to wage. Their celebration is short-lived when the conniving Rolph Bainter kills their liaison, a man who knew of the war's end but chose to remain silent. The soldiers, now fugitives, find themselves fleeing in the very wagon they attacked, guided by the strategic mind of Major Stewart. When a posse hot on their trail threatens their escape, Stewart uses cunning deception to misdirect their pursuers, but fate deals them a cruel hand, leading to a disastrous accident that leaves them without their horses. Their only hope is to commandeer a passing stagecoach, forcing the driver to aid in their desperate escape. However, their past actions come back to haunt them as the relentless posse converges on their location. Trapped within the confines of a stage relay station, they find themselves at odds with passengers who are more than they seem. As they grapple with the chilling reality that these men are not law enforcers but ruthless drifters lured by the glint of stolen gold, tension escalates. Deals crumble, alliances shatter, and the drifters resort to a lethal ultimatum - burn them out. In "Hangman's Knot," every decision is a gamble with life and death, where trust is a luxury, and survival is the only victory.
