Plot

In the heart of a bustling hotel, beautiful and sharp-witted manicurist Reggie Allen crafts a plan to marry for money, her sights set on the glitz and glamour that wealth promises. Among her roster of high-profile clients is Allen Macklyn, a wealthy ex-aviator confined to a wheelchair, who harbors a keen interest in the charismatic Reggie. Her plan, however, is thrown into a delightful whirlwind with the entrance of the charming, albeit financially ruined, Theodore Drew III. After losing his family fortune in the vicious jaws of the stock market crash, Teddy, as he's affectionately known, is on his own hunt for a rich marriage, eyeing the daughter of a pineapple tycoon as his ticket to an easy life. After a memorable date with Reggie, Teddy finds himself on her couch, too intoxicated to make his way home. A one-night arrangement soon extends into a prolonged stay, his irreverent sense of humor and charismatic charm slowly winning Reggie's heart. In this 1935 classic, Hands Across the Table, both Reggie and Teddy must navigate the tumultuous waves of love and wealth, their hearts caught in a tug-of-war between genuine affection and the allure of money. With each unexpected turn, the viewer is left to wonder: will they choose the promise of true love, or succumb to the tempting lure of financial security? This captivating tale of love, money, and the decisions that can change our lives forever, paints a vivid picture of the human heart in its most vulnerable state.
