Plot

In the heart of Hokkaido, Japan, resides diligent high school student Sae (Yui Aragaki). Ever since losing her father at a tender age, she's lived with her mother Ryoko (Hiroko Yakushimaru), beneath the comforting shadow of a dogwood tree - a poignant reminder of her father Kemimichi (Arata), who planted it upon learning of his terminal illness, a testament of love for the daughter he would never see blossom. Sae, fuelled by unyielding determination, is studying fervently for her college entrance exams, her sights set on a university in Tokyo. Her life takes an unexpected turn when she crosses paths with Kouhei (Toma Ikuta), a student from a specialized fishery school, who dreams of upholding his family legacy as a fisherman. Bound by an innate connection, Sae and Kouhei embark on a compelling journey of long-distance love. Despite their unshakeable bond, fate has other plans and their relationship doesn't stand the test of time. However, a decade later, life circles back, offering them a miracle that intertwines their paths once again. Hanamizuki is a mesmerizing tale of resilience, love, and the serendipity of life.
