Plot

In the sun-baked landscape of Tucson, Dana Marschz, a washed-up actor turned high school drama teacher, grapples with his unfulfilling new life. His past, marked by failed auditions and battles with alcoholism, haunts him as he struggles to find his footing amidst student apathy, blistering critiques, and a dwindling budget. His world teeters on the brink of collapse as his wife strives for motherhood, their home becomes a boarding house, and his own teaching abilities are stretched thin. When the school's only other electives shutter their doors, Dana finds himself at the helm of a motley crew of seemingly rough-around-the-edges students. The looming threat of the drama department's closure adds to Dana's mounting challenges. However, a spark is ignited when a student's critique inspires him to venture on an audacious journey - to pen and stage a sequel to the Shakespearean tragedy "Hamlet." His ambitious play, a time-traveling odyssey featuring Hamlet and Jesus embarking on a mission to save Gertrude and Ophelia, promises a grand spectacle unlike anything his school has ever seen. As the curtain rises, the question remains: Can Dana rise above his own limitations and bring his vision to life, or is this another dream destined to crumble under the weight of his trials? The stage awaits Dana's most significant performance yet in this unconventional comedy where Shakespeare meets high school drama.
