Plot

Set against the raw and tumultuous backdrop of 1970s Belfast, amidst the heartrending discord of Northern Ireland's Troubles, we find the indefatigable spirit of Terri Hooley, an idealistic rocker enmeshed in the chaos. As the world around him crumbles, he discovers an unexpected harmony in the rhythm of Jamaican reggae. Inspired, he establishes the now-iconic record store, Good Vibrations, with a dream of diffusing the infectious reggae beats through the veins of his strife-torn city. But the churning tides of the music world soon bring an edgy new genre to Hooley's doorstep—punk rock. Captivated by its raw energy and youthful exuberance, Hooley plunges headfirst into the world of record producing and promotion, becoming a vital force in the burgeoning local scene. Yet, the gritty realities of the industry and the tumultuous ebbs and flows of his personal life threaten to engulf him. In the face of adversity, Hooley's enduring resilience shines, and he becomes a catalyst for an unexpected revolution. Through the power of music, he crafts an alternative community, a sanctuary of sound that transcends religious and social hostilities, creating an unexpected symphony of unity in a world where discord was the expected norm. Good Vibrations is a testament to the transformative power of art and the indomitable spirit of one man who dared to dream differently.
