In the quiet realm of suburbia, 12-year-old Owen Baker lives a solitary existence, his only company the neighborhood dogs he walks to earn his most coveted privilege - owning a dog. Finally, his dedication bears fruit when he's allowed to adopt Hubble, a raggedy, endearing mutt. However, an extraordinary revelation awaits them both; Owen wakes one day to find he can comprehend every word Hubble utters, including an ominous command, "Take me to your leaders." As it turns out, dogs have a cosmic history, having journeyed to Earth millennia ago with a mission to rule. Hubble, in reality, Canid 3942, is a clandestine messenger from the Greater Dane, a powerful entity from the Dog Star Sirius. His purpose - to verify if Earth's dogs have achieved their destiny. Despite the neighborhood dogs' best attempts to convince him otherwise, Hubble uncovers a shocking truth: "You're all pets!" Now, Owen, a boy who's never known friendship, and Hubble, a dog who's never required one, must join forces. They must ready the local dogs for an impending visit from the Greater Dane or face an unthinkable consequence - the removal of all dogs from Earth. As the fate of mankind's beloved pets teeters on the brink, it falls to Owen, Hubble, and their loyal band of dogs to safeguard their species' future on the planet.
