Gold Raiders (1951)

En route to Red Mesa, George O'Brien, an insurance agent for mine owners, narrowly escapes a raid on their gold ore shipments, thanks to the unwitting interference of the Three Stooges, owners of a roving variety store. Spotting an opportunity, O'Brien convinces mine owner John Sawyer and his right-hand man, Sandy Evans, to let him insure and safeguard their shipments, given the sheriff's ineptitude. Joining his team are the Stooges, Laura Mason—a woman with a mysterious past—and her grandfather Doc Mason, a once reputable doctor who has since surrendered to alcoholism. O'Brien schemes to ensnare the bandits, led by the cold-hearted saloon owner Taggart and his ruthless henchman Clete. He uses the Stooges to spread a false plan—that he will personally escort the gold shipment—while secretly intending for the Stooges to transport the actual gold in a separate wagon. However, as fate would have it, O'Brien's intricate plot unravels when an intoxicated Doc Mason unwittingly spills the truth to Taggart in his saloon, putting everything they've worked for at stake.
