In the heart of the Amazon Rainforest, 1538, a band of Spanish soldiers embarks on an epic journey, commissioned by King Carlos V de España y I de Alemania. Their mission? To unearth the legendary city of Teziutlan, a mythical metropolis constructed entirely from gold, and claim it for the glory of the Spanish Empire. Isolated in the dense, vivid greenery of the rainforest, the soldiers are not only confronted by the indigenous tribes, but also by the deep-seated animosity they harbor for each other, a hatred fueled by their diverse origins. Guiding them through this perilous journey is the aging Don Gonzalo, whose frail health and dwindling strength pose a threat to his young wife, Doña Ana. This sparks a rivalry between Alférez Gorriamendi, Gonzalo's trusted lieutenant, and the brave soldier Martín Dávila, both vying for Ana's affection. As they grapple with their internal strife, news reaches them that the Viceroy of Port Prince, accusing Don Gonzalo of treason, has dispatched another expedition led by the ruthless Juan Medrano. Now, the soldiers, including the fiercely loyal Sargento Bastaurrés and Barbate, are torn between combating Medrano's men or pressing on towards the golden city of Teziutlan. However, the bitterness and rivalry within their ranks may prove to be just as perilous as the rainforest's lurking dangers and the relentless indigenous tribes. The quest for gold becomes a test of survival, a battle against their own demons, and a journey that could alter the course of their lives forever.
