Plot

In the heart of vibrant yet unyielding Los Angeles, 19-year-old Brandon Allen is thrust into the rigorously disciplined world of a Mormon missionary, a life far removed from his youthful expectations. The city, stubbornly resistant to redemption, mirrors the biblical landscapes of Sodom and Gomorrah, while his living conditions offer little respite - a cramped apartment shared with five youthful, mischief-prone missionaries. His initial guide in this daunting journey, the stern 29-year-old Marcus Dalton, feels more like a harsh taskmaster than a mentor. Overwhelmed, Allen contemplates surrendering his missionary badge and returning home after a single day. However, as he witnesses the personal tribulations and sacrifices of his fellow missionaries, his perspective begins to shift. Dalton, his seemingly severe companion, is waging a quiet war against cancer. Banks, the lone African-American missionary, faces the pain of familial rejection upon embracing the Mormon faith. Kinegar, a fifth-generation Latter-Day Saint, grapples with his faith amidst the relentless intellectual assaults from anti-Mormons. Immersed in this reality, Allen discovers the drama simmering beneath the surface of everyday missionary life. In the span of a few intense days, Allen unearths an inner faith and courage that he was unaware of. He realizes it's time to relinquish his boyish tendencies and evolve into something greater - not merely a man, but a man of God. Through these transformative experiences, Allen comes to understand that God's Army is more than a mere collection of individuals; it's a brotherhood bound by faith, sacrifice, and a shared purpose.
