Plot

In an alternate 2014 Indonesia, Gabriel Omar Baskoro, the radiant star of Jakarta Metropolitan Football Club, emerges. His raw talent and determined spirit have fired the Indonesian Football Team into the World Cup finals for the first time in history, even triumphing over the formidable Brazilian team in the quarterfinals. Upon his triumphant return to Indonesia, however, Gabriel is confronted with a bitter-sweet reality. He finds himself precariously balanced on the knife-edge between glory and integrity. Whispers of a ruthless Indonesian mafioso group backing Gabriel's meteoric rise start to echo through the streets, casting a shadow over his achievements. Caught in an intricate web, Gabriel is forced to choose between the relentless ambition of his coach and the unwavering honesty of his father. Each path, however, is fraught with its own potentially deadly consequences. Simultaneously, Andini, a staunch sports journalist, embarks on a daring investigation into the mafioso's insidious influence over Indonesian football. As she delves deeper, Gabriel's name continually surfaces, adding fuel to the flickering fire of suspicion. The tale of Gabriel Omar Baskoro, the real hero of Indonesian football, unveils itself in layers as Andini's investigation intensifies. "Go Eight" is a captivating exploration of the struggle between ambition and integrity, and the price one pays for glory.
