Plot

In the artistic haven of Northern California, Jay Masonek, a gifted yet confined artist, grapples with a sense of unfulfillment. His world shifts when his cosmopolitan cousins, Jeff and Eric, arrive from LA, offering him a chance to escape his small-town existence and experience the thrumming vibrancy of Hollywood. Jay's journey to the city of dreams, however, is met with the harsh realities of an economic recession where opportunities are as rare as falling stars. Despite the brothers' attempts to uplift his spirits with city tours and film auditions, Jay begins to feel the crushing weight of what he dubs "the grid". He spirals into a wild whirl of ceaseless partying, attempting to drown the emptiness within. Spectacular animated sequences serve as a striking canvas for Jay's inner turmoil, portraying his thoughts, emotions, and his yearning for spiritual rejuvenation. Jay's real-world experiences and his inner life intertwine, painting a vivid picture of his emotional journey. As the story unfolds, Jay retreats back to his hometown, while Jeff and Eric set off on their own quests for companionship in New York and England. Left in solitude once more, Jay teeters on the brink of despair. But, a moment of profound revelation jolts him, leading to a pivotal crossroad in his life. Will he succumb to his circumstances, or will he seize this moment to reshape his destiny?
