In the heart of New York City, Imogene Duncan, a once thriving playwright graced by a prestigious grant, finds herself teetering on the precipice of despair. Her promising journey towards theatrical greatness, which began with a leap from her loathed hometown of Ocean City, New Jersey, has led her down a path of heartache and failure. Her social sphere, hinged on her boyfriend and fashion-obsessed socialite, Peter Van Woodsen, crumbles when he ends their relationship, leaving her to face a crumbling existence marked by the loss of her upscale apartment and a dismissal from her low-tier writing job.
