Ghost in the Machine (1993)

In the shadows of the digital world lurks Karl Hochman - a seemingly ordinary computer store technician, but underneath, a sinister figure known as the "Address Book Killer". His modus operandi: pilfering address books and methodically murdering the names within. One day, Terry Munroe, accompanied by her son Josh, steps into Karl's store, unknowingly placing them in the crosshairs of his deadly game. As fate would have it, a handheld scanner demonstration uses Terry's address book, landing it in Karl's possession. That stormy night, as Karl drives towards Terry's house, a mishap sends his car crashing into a cemetery. The subsequent hospital visit for an MRI coincides with a lightning storm, causing a surge to course through the building and morph Karl's mind into a form of electrical energy. Now, the digital and physical world become Karl's hunting ground, using the electrical grid and computer networks to perpetuate his lethal spree. Terry, Josh, and Bram Walker, a skilled computer hacker, find themselves in a race against time, tasked with halting this electrified predator before they become his next victims. Through this battle of survival, Ghost in the Machine explores the terrifying alliance of human malevolence and unchecked technological power.
