In the bustling heart of New York City, Bill Fuller, a steadfast urbanite, shares a rented apartment with his wife Connie, her love-struck teenage sister Madge, their loyal housekeeper Hester, and Rommy - their spirited terrier. After being displaced for the third time in a year, they face a crossroads of urban survival and unforeseen adventure. Unbeknownst to Bill, Connie decides to trade their city life for a taste of rural tranquility. She purchases a dilapidated colonial farmhouse in scenic northeastern Pennsylvania, drawn by unverified legends that George Washington once graced its halls with his presence. Pulling Bill from the city's concrete embrace, Connie throws them into a whirlwind of countryside challenges.
