In the blistering heat of the summer preceding their last school year, best friends Billie and Laura share an unshakeable bond, their lives interwoven with secrets, save for one - Billie's concealed passion for Laura's boyfriend, Danny. Their seemingly solid friendship begins to fracture when Billie's mother, a dedicated social worker, takes in Isaac, a wayward teenager striving to straighten out his turbulent life.
