Michele Barresi, a formidable figure in the Italian underworld, flees to the sanctuary of Brooklyn, leaving behind a blood-stained Corleone, where his main rival has been brutally silenced. Meanwhile, Commissioner Berni uncovers Barresi's lethal fingerprints on the crime. In a desperate bid to silence any whispers of truth, Barresi sends death's invitation to the only two souls who can testify against him - a ruthless assassin under his payroll, Salvatore Scalia, and the woman who shares his bed.
Tragically, Berni fails to protect the latter, but succeeds in clamping cuffs on Scalia.
