Plot

In the bustling heart of Jerusalem, Rebecca, a young American expatriate, finds herself emotionally adrift after abruptly severing ties with her Israeli fiancé, Julio. Overwhelmed by the echoes of a love lost, she seeks refuge in the anonymity of a taxi, instructing the driver to take her as far as possible from the remnants of her broken engagement. Enter Hanna, the taxi driver - a woman with her own journey to embark upon. Hanna is skeptical about the impromptu road trip, but ultimately concedes, allowing Rebecca to journey alongside her into the heart of Jordan's enigmatic Free Zone. This is no ordinary trip for Hanna, who is set to meet "The American", her husband Moshe's cryptic Palestinian business collaborator. However, upon their arrival, they discover "The American" is mysteriously absent, replaced by the unexpected presence of Leila, a Palestinian woman. After a fiery exchange with Hanna, Leila proposes to lead them to the oasis where "The American" supposedly resides. Thus, two women, initially bound by mere circumstance, find themselves on a winding odyssey through unfamiliar landscapes, discovering the intricate tapestry of cultural tension and personal despair. Free Zone is a riveting exploration of human connection and resilience, framed against the backdrop of a region ensnared in the complexities of identity and conflict.
