Plot

In the quaint town of Lighthouse Cove, Oregon, the echoes of the past whisper through its historic homes, waiting to be heard by Shannon Hughes, the town's skilled renovation contractor and intuitive sleuth. Known for her deft hand in Victorian home restoration, Shannon's latest venture is a dual-layered project. She's tasked not only with the transformation of her childhood friend Jennifer Hennessey's family abode into a charming B&B but also with the restoration of a town's historic gem for its new owner, Macintyre Sullivan, an investigative journalist seeking a peaceful haven to pen his crime novel. Shannon's life is deeply entwined with the town's history, bound by a second-generation friendship that ties her and Jennifer to their fathers' friends, Jesse Hennessey and Stephen Davison. The men, known for their fishing and salvage diving adventures, share a history as deep and mysterious as the sea they explore. Jesse, a man of tall tales and humble generosity, becomes a point of contention when he begins dating the alluring yogi, Althea Morton, a woman who had first caught Ned's eye. Just as the threads of their lives begin to twist, a sudden death among their circle casts a shadow over Lighthouse Cove. The police hastily chalk it up to an unfortunate accident, but Shannon, who stumbles upon the chilling scene, senses a darker truth. Teaming up with Macintyre, who temporarily resides in her guest house, they merge their respective expertise in contracting, historic buildings, and investigative research to unearth the truth hidden beneath the town's idyllic veneer. The key to unravelling the mystery may lie with a white-haired stranger with a small blue compact hatchback, who seems as elusive as the truth they seek. As Shannon and Macintyre inch closer to the truth, they inadvertently weave themselves and their loved ones into a web of danger. As each restored wall reveals another secret, Shannon finds herself living a real-life mystery much akin to the crime novels Macintyre writes, her renovation work serving as a gateway to Lighthouse Cove's concealed past.
