Elgin Smith, a hardworking student at Ridgedale College, divides his time between part-time waitressing, studying, attending classes, and playing soccer - not for the thrill of the game, but for the exercise. Unlike his promiscuous dorm neighbor, David Bonner, Elgin is a hopeless romantic who dreams of equating love with making love. He yearns for a connection that is both emotionally profound and physically passionate.
