Plot

Emerging from the shadows of her drug-riddled past, teenager Melanie steps foot into Emerald, a town cloaked in a shroud of unnerving mystery. She arrives after a stint in rehabilitation, nursing the ghosts of her past - a deadly heroin overdose in California that claimed her boyfriend's life while she narrowly escaped from the jaws of death. Melanie's older sister, Crystal, welcomes her with open arms, her only beacon of warmth in a place where their mother greets her with icy indifference. Crystal unveils the haunting tale of Emerald's tragic past - a horrifying collision between a school bus and a train in 1957. The incident, spurred by a faulty railroad crossing gate, extinguished the lives of all children on board. This catastrophe has since birthed an eerie urban legend: if a car is left in neutral at the accident site, the ghostly hands of the perished children will push it forward, leaving their fingerprints etched onto the car bumper. This chilling lore seeps into the very marrow of Emerald, stirring an undercurrent of dread that resonates with Melanie. When Melanie and Crystal, along with two of Crystal's friends, leave a party to visit this macabre landmark, Melanie encounters a spectral little girl named Julie. Melanie's bond with Julie grows, but so do her haunting visions and daydreams of the deceased children and the fatal accident. As Melanie grapples with these eerie occurrences, her mother misconstrues it as a relapse into drug addiction. In this labyrinth of fear and uncertainty, Melanie finds herself entangled in a chilling mystery that has left the town's people frozen in terror. As she delves deeper, Melanie must navigate the harsh judgment of her mother, her own traumatic past, and her unsettling visions to unravel the truth behind the accident that continues to haunt Emerald. Will she be able to bring peace to the restless spirits or will she become another victim of this cursed town? "Fingerprints" is a chilling exploration of redemption, loss, and the relentless grip of the past.
