Plot

In the year 1868, Marcelino Sanz de Sautuola y de la Pedrueca unearths a world lost to time within the secluded caves of Cantabria, Northern Spain. Assisted by a local hunter, Modesto Cubillas, he stumbles upon a spectacle of Paleolithic artwork, their vibrant colours untouched by the centuries. Eager to share this monumental discovery with the world's scholars, Sautuola finds himself in the crosshairs of disbelief and scorn. The academic world, entrenched in their skepticism, dismisses the cave paintings as elaborate forgeries, the concoction of a man seeking fame and fortune. Accusations of deceit shroud Sautuola, staining his reputation and casting a shadow over his incredible find. The once-celebrated discoverer is now an accused fraudster, his discovery disdained and discarded by the very world he sought to enlighten. Undeterred, Sautuola embarks on an arduous journey to vindicate himself and the authenticity of the Altamira cave paintings. His life becomes a relentless quest for truth, battling against the tide of academic skepticism, fighting to restore his tarnished reputation and prove, once and for all, that the caveman's canvas he discovered is indeed a genuine relic of the past.
