In the heart of the city, Fatty, a charming yet scantily-dressed young man, spots an intriguing announcement in the newspaper about a Grand Benefit Dance that evening. It's a black-tie event, and Fatty's eyes gleam with the prospect of taking his sweetheart along. However, his wardrobe lacks a suit suitable for such a grand affair, a problem his love rival doesn't share.
As tension escalates, Fatty and his rival lock horns over their shared love interest and the possession of the coveted attire. Fatty's pleas to his mother for funds to rent a suit fall on deaf ears, leading him to cunningly "borrow" his rival's dress suit. Despite the suit hugging him a little too tightly, Fatty manages to squeeze into it, ready to sweep his girl off her feet at the dance.
Meanwhile, his rival, seething with anger over Fatty's audacious antics, plans a cunning countermove. He resolves to crash the dance, seeking to exact sweet revenge on Fatty. The once serene dance floor soon becomes a battleground of chaos and hilarity. As Fatty navigates the ensuing mayhem, he finds unexpected assistance in the form of a helpful policeman, ensuring that decency isn't entirely lost in this whirlwind of an evening.
