Far from Here (2017)

In the vibrant cityscape of Los Angeles, we meet a young, ambitious couple, Grant and Sofia, poised on the brink of starting a family. Grant, a flourishing novelist, finds his life intertwined with Sofia, an unemployed engineer. When a golden opportunity beckons Sofia back to her native Romania, she persuades Grant to momentarily shelve their family plans. A year lapses, and we find Grant ensnared in the throes of writer's block, yearning for home while marooned in the unfamiliar streets of Bucharest. Sofia, on the contrary, emerges like a butterfly from its chrysalis, navigating her demanding career with newfound confidence, albeit struggling to maintain equilibrium with her personal life. An unexpected family crisis drives a wedge between the two, both physically and emotionally, compelling them to reflect on their decisions. Confronted with a life-altering choice, they must face their realities, their dreams, and each other, as they stand at a crossroads that could reshape their future in unimaginable ways. This film explores love, ambition, and the complex dance between personal growth and shared dreams.
