Fall Guy (1947)

In the entrancing film noir, Fall Guy, Tom Cochrane (Leo Penn) finds himself ensnared in a web of confusion and suspicion. Cochrane, hazy from a cocktail of cocaine and smeared with blood, is apprehended by the relentless police duo, detectives Shannon (Douglas Fowley) and Taylor (Harry Strang). Despite their piercing interrogation tactics, Cochrane somehow slips from their grasp. His devoted girlfriend, Lois Walter (Teala Loring), defies her guardian, Jim Grosset (Charles Arnt), standing by Cochrane's side with unwavering loyalty. She teams up with Cochrane's brother-in-law, the dutiful cop Mac McLane (Robert Armstrong), in a daring attempt to scrub Cochrane clean of an impending murder accusation. Cochrane's memory fails him, offering only fragments of a bar encounter and a mysterious party. Together, Cochrane and McLane hunt down the elusive Joe (Elisha Cook Jr.), who guides them back to the shadowy realm of the party - the Sindells' apartment. Yet, the plot thickens as they stumble upon the chilling sight of a slain girl in the apartment overhead, pulling them deeper into a labyrinth of uncertainty and danger.
