In the heart of the Midlands, three unlikely heroes find themselves battling their personal demons. Richard, trapped in a dead-end job and plagued by an adolescent fascination with 11th-century warfare, sees his world crumble when his wife departs, weary of his inattention and peculiar hobbies. His loyal ally, Julian, lives under the maternal roof, alternating his obsessions between the grandeur of Vikings and the cosmic allure of Star Trek. Completing this triad is Richard's son, Martin, a target for school bullies, largely due to his father’s eccentric pastime. Striving to reclaim his wife's affection, Richard is willing to lay down his faux sword and shield. Meanwhile, Julian stumbles upon a potential soulmate online, someone who shares his peculiar interests. In his own little world, Martin dreams of rising against his tormentors. Amidst their struggles, they each fall prey to dubious advice, often with disastrous consequences. In this turbulent journey of self-discovery and redemption, the question remains: can they salvage hope from the wreckage of their tribulations?
