Elvira, Mistress of the Dark (1988)

In the heart of the television network industry, Elvira, a sultry horror hostess with a flair for the dramatic, becomes disgruntled when a chauvinistic millionaire takes over her network. Determined to carve her own path, she decides to quit and produce her own late-night show in the glamourous city of Las Vegas. However, her dreams are soon thwarted by the steep production cost of $50,000 - a sum she does not possess. Fate intervenes when she receives news of her great-aunt Morgana's demise and a possible inheritance waiting for her in the sleepy, conservative town of Fallwell, Massachusetts. Complications arise when her great-uncle, Vincent Talbot, expresses a keen interest in buying the spell book. When the poodle cleverly hides the book, Vincent resorts to manipulation, convincing the town council that Elvira is a witch who must be burned at the stake. As the shadows of her past close in, and the danger from a warlock uncle grows, Elvira must use her wit, charm, and newfound magical abilities to protect the spell book, clear her name, and defeat the malevolent Vincent. Will she succeed in stopping the wicked warlock, or will Fallwell's bonfire glow with her demise? The fate of a horror hostess hangs in the balance in this tale of magic, mystery, and self-discovery.
