In the rustic county of Somerset, 1958, we find Eva, an endearing young woman stepping foot into the whirlwind of adulthood. Amidst the humdrum of her job at a furniture factory, Eva finds solace in her dreams of Joseph Lees, her distant cousin. A geologist by profession, Joseph voyages through Africa and Italy, his journey marred by a tragic accident costing him a leg. While Joseph resides in her dreams, the reality of Eva's life is colored by the persistent affections of the local farmer, Harry Flite.
