Plot

In the heart-stirring fusion of comedy and drama, "Divine Access" embarks on a charming journey through the American South, blending the elements of a road movie, a buddy film, and an evocative narrative of redemption. Our reluctant protagonist, Jack Harriman, a man of worldly wisdom about vast religions, is drawn from his simple life by his mother Catherine's relentless spiritual quest. Leveraging his religious acumen as an unconventional arsenal for attracting women, Jack ironically finds himself as the new face of a local television show, "Divine Access," produced by his steadfast friend, Bob McCord. Bob, well acquainted with Jack's knack for debunking religious fanatics, sees him as a fitting replacement to the zealous current host, Reverend Guy Roy Davis. Jack's televised humiliation of Guy Roy catapults him into an unexpected fame, painting him as a spiritual celebrity while simultaneously igniting a destructive flame of jealousy and resentment in Guy Roy. This dichotomy of fortunes sends Guy Roy tumbling from grace, while Jack, albeit reluctantly, embarks on a multi-city speaking tour. Accompanying him on this spiritual odyssey are Nigel, a self-styled "catcher" known for his tenure on the religious circuit, Amber, a luckless call-girl seeking solace under Jack's wing, and Marian, a mystifying woman whose challenging questions and radiant beauty provoke Jack to introspect his own beliefs and potential divine calling. As Jack grapples with the uncomfortable realization of becoming a false prophet - the very thing he despises - he is guided by forces both earthly and ethereal on a quest to discover his own spiritual truth. This journey reaches its climax in a dramatic confrontation with the fallen Guy Roy Davis. Surrounded by those who both love him and those whom he loves, Jack’s odyssey is destined to alter the lives of his countless followers. "Divine Access" thus unfolds as an unforgettable tale of faith, friendship, and familial bonds, exploring the profound impact of one man's spiritual journey on those around him.
