Plot

In the unvarnished crevices of our society lurks the film, Dirty Work, a fascinating tale of three uncommon men, Russ, Darrell, and Bernard. Each of them is engrossed in professions that are as indispensable as they are unconventional. Russ, a collector of prized bull semen, Darrell, the intrepid septic tank pumper, and Bernard, an embalmer with a unique perspective on death, carry the weight of the world's less glamorous tasks. Each man's job, hidden in plain sight, provides an essential service to our society, yet remains largely unseen and unappreciated. Their unusual childhood experiences propelled them into these compelling careers, granting them a unique perspective on the intricacies of life that the rest of us often overlook. Darrell finds meaning and uncovers societal trends in the contents of septic tanks, while Russ views his unusual occupation as a noble cause, a means to preserve the livelihood of the family farmer. Meanwhile, Bernard, dubbed the "restorative artist," gives us a view from the other side, providing a humorous yet poignant commentary on how today's death industry distances us from our own mortality. Dirty Work isn't just about grimy jobs; it's a testament to the power of finding one's calling in the most unlikely of places. Through the lives of Russ, Darrell, and Bernard, the film challenges us to see the world, and our roles within it, in a radically different light. Their story, of embracing the undesirable, is a dirty job, but one they're proud to do. After experiencing their world, your view of everyday life will be irrevocably transformed.
