Deadly Strike (1978)

In the heart of a quaint provincial town, Bruce Li as the newly instated police chief arrives with a mandate to capture a deadly gang wreaking havoc. His arrival stirs up a tense confrontation with his complacent deputies, exposing their ineptitude. Undeterred, he takes an unconventional route, turning to his prison quarters, and offers conditional liberty to those surviving the imminent clash with the gang. Among the motley crew of prisoners is a grieving widower, Wang Yung Sheng, incarcerated for avenging his wife's death, and a knife-throwing maestro Lung Fei, serving time for exterminating a crooked magistrate. A deft pickpocket and a young orphan girl, thirsting for vengeance for her parents' demise, complete the unlikely team. The chief's ruthlessness emerges when he executes a prisoner attempting to flee, underscoring the gravity of their mission. As the narrative unfolds, a unique camaraderie develops between the prisoners and the police, uniting them in their pursuit of justice. Their quest leads them to the gang's stronghold, the lair of the menacing leader, Chen Hsing. A ferocious and violent confrontation ensues, leaving a trail of destruction and death. At the end, only the chief, the symbol of law and order, survives the blood-soaked showdown.
