In the chilling backdrop of upstate New York, a forsaken slaughterhouse turns into a theater of terror when three ruthless convicts -- Ted Handy, Ray "Sonny" Bonner, and Shephard "Shep" Wilcox -- escape the impenetrable walls of Pennsylvania's Lewisburg maximum security prison. Swelling their pockets with $2,000,000 stolen from a bank, their flight to freedom takes a sinister turn as they hijack a school bus and take its occupants hostage. Amongst the captives are Donna Harkstrawn, the unsuspecting bus driver, Melanie Charrol, a deaf teacher, and her seven deaf students. A seasoned negotiator, Sharon was instrumental in defusing the hostage situation that landed Ted behind bars. However, as the tension escalates, it becomes evident that Sharon harbors secrets of her own, leaving Potter to navigate this perilous situation alone. Simultaneously, inside the grim walls of the slaughterhouse, Melanie uses her expertise in sign language to communicate with the outside world, working tirelessly to expedite the surrender of the convicts and safeguard her students.
