Plot

In the heart of Daylight's plot is Iris Boelens, a razor-sharp lawyer grappling with the challenges of raising her mildly autistic son, Aaron. During a week-long suspension from school, Aaron and Iris take refuge at the home of her reticent mother, Ageeth. A fleeting remark by a fish-tank specialist sends Iris spiraling into the clandestine past of her family, unraveling a secret that Ageeth has held close: the existence of Iris's autistic brother, Ray. Simultaneously, Iris is embroiled in a high-stakes case, employed by the affluent matriarch of Benschop enterprises, working to refute child pornography allegations leveled against her wayward son. As Iris sifts through the layers of her professional and personal life, the two worlds collide with deadly force. Iris unearths evidence of Ray's wrongful conviction for the murder of his companion, Rosita, and their infant daughter, Anna, whose body was never recovered. Determined to uncover the truth, Iris confronts her brother in a forensic clinic, sparking a chain reaction that reopens the cold case. As she digs deeper into the murky waters of corruption and injustice, Iris becomes the target of ominous death threats and a near-fatal car crash. The enigma of Ray's case starts to unravel, revealing a twisted tale of familial deceit, orchestrated by none other than their mother, Ageeth. As Iris pieces together the puzzle, she uncovers a sordid love affair between Ageeth and the millionaire Twan Benschop. Through Rosita's mother, Dina, Iris discovers a chilling confrontation between Ageeth, Ray, and Rosita that ends in tragedy. Ageeth's disapproval of Ray's relationship with Rosita, coupled with doubts about the paternity of baby Anna, culminate in a fatal misunderstanding. "Daylight" is a labyrinth of secrets and lies, a haunting exploration of a family's buried past and a woman's relentless pursuit of truth. The film weaves together threads of mystery, intrigue, and personal discovery, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats as they journey alongside Iris into the chilling abyss of her family's darkest secrets.
