Plot

In the turbulent autumn of 1947, amidst the sandy landscapes of Palestine, the narrative of Dawn unfurls, following the story of Elisha, a young Jewish Holocaust survivor. Engulfed in the tumultuous tensions of the British mandate period, Elisha is handpicked by his comrades in the Zionist struggle to face an unthinkable task - the assassination of a British officer, John Dawson. The Zionists, fervently battling for the establishment of a Jewish state, retaliate against the British authorities who have sentenced one of their own to the gallows. In a tense game of tit-for-tat, Dawson becomes their hostage, a pawn in a deadly game of political chess. As the night stretches out, Elisha and his comrades keep a vigil, their lives entwined with the fate of their captive and their condemned friend. The moral compass of the young Elisha is tested to its extremes, as he grapples with his conscience. The question lingers in the cool desert air: can Elisha, scarred by the horrors of the Holocaust, perform an act so irrevocable at the break of dawn? Dawn offers a fresh perspective on a crucial moment in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, casting a new light on the genesis of the ongoing political disputes. A captivating blend of history and suspense, this film serves as a poignant exploration of the human spirit, the cost of freedom, and the weight of sacrifice.
