Plot

Trapped in a self-inflicted web of mediocrity, Abe Wertheimer is a 35-year-old man who chooses to leech off his parents instead of carving out his own path. His existence oscillates between the humdrum of his father's corporate world, where he spends his time hunting for collectibles on eBay rather than working, and the sheltered cocoon of his mother's unwavering support. A chance encounter brings him face-to-face with Miranda, a woman whose spirit has been so beaten down by life that she readily accepts Abe's abrupt marriage proposal, seeing in it a predictably bleak future that she no longer has the strength to resist. As Abe projects his own shortcomings onto his father and his envy for his more successful younger brother, he sinks further into the quicksand of dissatisfaction that his life has become. When a long-delayed decision suddenly sends his world spiralling into chaos, Abe finds himself struggling to regain control. But can he navigate the labyrinth of his own making, or will he remain forever a pawn in the game of life? Dark Horse is a poignant exploration of a man at war with himself, caught in the throes of self-destruction and desperate for redemption.
