Dany (2018)

In the gritty underbelly of society, we meet Daniel 'Dany' Versavel, a hardened yet comically inept criminal, widower, and devoted father to his teenage son, Sullivan. Dany is a man so stubborn, he refuses to sign Sullivan's legal emancipation papers, choosing instead to stage a daring helicopter prison break to reclaim his prince. As the national police force launches a full-scale manhunt, Dany seems immune to capture. His antics and strategies, as subtle as an earthquake, baffle the authorities, while his loyal godfather helps him navigate the chaos. He retrieves Sullivan from his school in Visé, boldly announcing his plans for a 'home education' for his son. Determined to provide a family environment, Dany embarks on a strange dating journey, seeking potential stepmothers for Sully. Even when the most hardened of women can't stand his lifestyle, a touch of plastic surgery comes to the rescue. Meanwhile, Dany's delusional schemes to make billions from credit card publicity are met with derision from the banking community. His criminal endeavors are equally hapless. He attempts to rob homes for which he has copied keys under the guise of a locksmith, but even the most desperate of fences regret their affiliation with him. The cash stash he had hidden in prison is squandered on a soccer player for Sully's birthday party, a testament to his misguided paternal devotion. As the police slowly piece together the puzzle, Dany and Sully find themselves on the run, embarking on a dangerous journey to the Ivory Coast. They miraculously survive a car crash, further cementing Dany's reputation as an unlikely survivor. At its heart, Dany is a tale of a father's unorthodox love and his desperate attempts to hold onto his son, no matter the cost.
