Bereaved widow Rebecca Murphy, a woman scorned by love, devotes her life to her 12-year-old son, Justin – a gifted, emerging musician who has no memories of his late father. Despite her vivacious neighbor Olive's persistent attempts to get her back in the dating game, Rebecca remains resistant. Olive, who authors a lively love advice column titled "Call Me Cupid," finds herself under pressure to modernize her approach. In a surprising turn of events, she recruits Justin, unwittingly, to assist with replying to a reader's letter. His advice strikes a chord, and Olive decides to publish it under the pseudonym, "Cupid's Proxy," much to Justin's initial dismay. However, when a heartfelt letter lands on Olive's desk, seemingly from Stewart - Justin's guitar teacher - Justin hatches a plan. He crafts an alter ego so covert, even Olive is unaware, with the aim of orchestrating a romance between Stewart and his mother. As his well-meaning schemes begin to crumble, Justin faces the challenge of revealing his ruse to both his mother and Stewart. Will his ambitious matchmaking falter, or will it coax Rebecca to gamble on love once again?
