In the hallowed halls of academia, the line between cult and religion is a topic of intense debate. In the midst of this discourse, Mindy, the brightest star in her class, rallies her classmates - Cassandra, Bailey, Alex, and Morgan - to delve into an eerie chapter of history. The tale dates back twenty years, to a California commune where the followers of Kwan Yin were brutally slaughtered by their own leader, Owen Quinlin. Quinlin, possessed by an ancient amulet unearthed in the depths of Southern China, sought unfathomable power through the sacrificial offering of human souls. But his reign of terror was cut short when one brave woman defied him, leading to his downfall. As Mindy and her group journey deeper into their research, they are shattered by the sudden death of Morgan, seemingly by suicide. However, as they grapple with their loss, an even more sinister discovery looms - Quinlin, it seems, has returned from the ashes. Wielding his amulet, he is now set on a chilling quest for their souls. Will they survive this malevolent resurrection, or will they become the next sacrifices in Quinlin's relentless pursuit of power?
