As their only child, Eva Peyton, prepares to leave the nest to embrace college life, Michael and Victoria Peyton, on the brink of becoming empty nesters, leave the throbbing heart of the city for the tranquil monotony of the suburbs. This transition, a necessary austerity measure following Victoria's unexpected job loss, places them in a neighborhood that is as dull as it is safe. Victoria, an architectural artist in the nascent stages of her home-based business, finds herself home alone more often than not. The dullness of her new environment begins to gnaw at her, leading her to succumb to distractions.
