Plot

In the throes of utter despair, Seth Warner finds his life in ruins. His beloved wife is dead, his career is in shambles, his home reduced to rubble, and even his faithful dog is claimed by a harsh bolt of lightning. Standing on the rooftop of his New York apartment, Seth's anguish turns into a furious outcry against God, the deity he has worshipped and revered his entire life. His desperate question, "Why?", echoes in the midst of a raging thunderstorm, his plea met only with divine silence and more loss. Now, with nothing left to bind him to his old life, Seth embarks on a rebellious journey to break all of the Ten Commandments systematically. He finds an unlikely ally in Harry, his sister-in-law Rachel's morally ambiguous reporter husband. Harry, ever the opportunistic journalist, sees Seth's mission as a ladder to professional success. Yet, their alliance teeters on a precarious edge as Seth manipulates Harry's knack for sinning to fulfill his defiant quest. The plot thickens when Seth and Rachel, each wrestling with their internal struggles - his crisis of faith and her faltering marriage - find themselves drawn to one another. The tension escalates as Seth edges closer to the most potent commandment: Thou shall not kill. His defiance leads them all to a climactic confrontation amid a violent hurricane at the remotest end of Long Island, near the Montauk Lighthouse. In this potent storm, their lives intersect in unexpected ways. Each one of them is forced to confront forces larger than human control, their life choices, and the consequences of their decisions. As the storm rages on, the resolution that awaits Seth, Rachel, and Harry is as surprising as it is profound, threading together elements of mysticism and justice in a riveting tale of faith, rebellion, and redemption.
