Plot

Budding from the nest of his parents' home, the naïve Buddy Baker steps into the thrilling vortex of Manhattan, seeking shelter in the opulent apartment of his older sibling, Alan - a charming bachelor with a talent for chasing skirts. Alan, reveling in his freewheeling lifestyle, far removed from the confines of their family business, becomes an unexpected mentor to Buddy. He opens the doors to the city's pulsating nightlife, leading the young man on a whirlwind tour through a world of lavish parties and fleeting romances. Yet their father, displeased by Alan's guidance and the consequential loss of a crucial client, stirs up a storm back home. Undeterred, Buddy swiftly adapts, not only claiming his brother's liquor cabinet but also his string of girlfriends. Alan, after forfeiting a love interest and suffering a beating at the hands of a scorned husband, begins to sense the looming specter of emptiness in his lifestyle. His favorite lady, Connie, feels the sting of his commitment-phobia, further driving Alan into a pit of self-realization. Struck by the realization of his life's futility, Alan implores Buddy to abandon the seductive allure of their hedonistic lifestyle. Yet, Buddy, now fully immersed, is too entranced to heed his brother's warning. A heated argument ensues, shocking Alan into a life-changing decision—he proposes to Connie. As their lives intertwine in marriage, Alan steps up to mend the rifts in their family, taking his place in the family business with newfound seriousness. His bachelor pad, once the epicenter of their wild escapades, now passes onto Buddy, marking the end of an era and the beginning of another.
