Plot

In the heart of a city teeming with life, eight troubled souls cross paths, each wrestling with their own personal demons. Jim, perched on a high-rise, tests the gravity's pull with watermelons, contemplating his own fall. On a nearby roof, a desolate Sue prepares to take her own life. Their paths converge, and they defer their fatal plans, embarking on a shared quest for alternatives to their despair. In the city below, Dean, an artist grappling with a creative drought, finds an unlikely muse in Gina, a street-smart prostitute with a challenging physical condition. But Gina's inspiration comes at a cost, a fact Dean learns all too soon. Simultaneously, Olly, reeling from a brief affair with Dean, is thrust into a profound exploration of his sexuality while caring for his mute and deaf brother, Chris. Chris, more accepting of his own gay identity, guides Olly through the vibrant labyrinth of Soho's gay community, a journey marked by Chris's pursuit of his first intimate encounter. Meanwhile, Pete, the eldest of the three brothers and a figure with a dark past, is haunted by Carol, a frail, old woman searching for her missing son - a ghost from Pete's violent, drug-fueled past. As fear gives way to empathy, they embark on a perilous voyage into the wilderness to find Carol's lost child. City Rats is a poignant exploration of life's darkness and light, of connections made and missed, and of the makeshift families we create out of necessity and compassion. Each character's journey culminates in a moment of revelation or redemption, a fleeting glimpse of hope amidst the chaos.
